24/06/2013

In the House of the Raging Bull's 50th anniversary year, Stephan Winkelmann, President and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini, yesterday received the “Premio Internazionale BARSANTI e MATTEUCCI” in Pietrasanta, near Lucca in Tuscany. The prize is a prestigious recognition for those who excel in the field of automotive engineering.

The prize was presented by the president of the Barsanti and Matteucci Awards, Andrea Biagiotti.
Mr. Winkelmann has been President and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini S.p.A. since January 1, 2005. His management has led to swift and significant growth of the company, distinguished by one of the most highly esteemed turn-around programs in the automotive and luxury sectors.
On November 29, 2010, Stephan Winkelmann was awarded the prestigious decoration of Grand Officer in the Order of Merit of The Italian Republic for his role in the revitalization of this famous Italian brand. He then received the Global Leadership Award in September 2012 from the Italo-American Chamber of Commerce (IACC) in Chicago.

Stephan Winkelmann commented: “It's a great honor to receive this award, particularly in the Company's 50th anniversary year. For 50 years Lamborghini has been the symbol of ‘Made in Italy’, and we are proud to successfully carry forward the legend created by our founder, Ferruccio Lamborghini.”

The prize, awarded to various Italian and international personalities in the automotive world since its inauguration in 2000, was set up to remember Eugenio Barsanti and Felice Matteucci, inventors of the internal combustion engine. The event is held in collaboration with the Viareggio Versilia Rotary Club, enjoying the patronage of the seven Towns of the Versilia, the Province of Lucca and the Region of Tuscany, with the support of the President of the Italian Republic.

The award-giving ceremony was held in the splendid setting of the Cloister of St Augustine in Pietrasanta, near Lucca, with some of the vehicles making up Lamborghini's history on show for the occasion – the 350 GT and the Miura SV together with a Gallardo LP 570-4 Superleggera and an Aventador LP 700-4.

The award was given to Stephan Winkelmann this year for his work in continuing and strengthening the legend of Lamborghini, a company which ever since it was founded has progressively distinguished itself by its continuous research into the design, technological innovation and production of extreme super sports cars without compromises: Lamborghini is a major international company which expresses the creativity of the Emilia region and Italy as a whole.

Stephan Winkelmann was also awarded the Medal of the Presidency of the Italian Republic by the Prefect of Lucca, Giovanna Cagliostro, in recognition of this latter accomplishment.

Moreover, inside the Cloister there was also a photographic exhibition dedicated to the Lamborghini 50th Anniversary Grand Tour in May this year, the largest rally in the House of the Raging Bull's history, with 350 supercars which came to Italy from all over the world to celebrate the Company's founding.

Gil de Ferran visits the Automobili Lamborghini headquarters.

Sant’Agata Bolognese, June 19, 2013.
The multiple Champ Car Champion and Indianapolis 500 winner Gil de Ferran yesterday fulfilled a childhood dream by visiting the headquarters of Automobili Lamborghini in Bologna.

Welcomed to spiritual home of the Italian supercar marque by Lamborghini’s recently-appointed Head of Motorsport, Max Welti, Gil toured the Aventador assembly line, the museum that traces the company’s illustrious 50 year history and the CFK Centre, Lamborghini’s specialist carbon fibre production facilities where the monocoque of the Aventador is hand-produced.

Gil was also briefed by Max Welti on the philosophy of the recently-created Squadra Corse which aims to build a staircase for drivers from first engagement with Lamborghini through to instruction, single make racing and ultimately professional GT3 racing. Squadra Corse represents the essence of Lamborghini’s significant new commitment to motorsport.

Having witnessed the supercar engineering and production facilities, the logical conclusion of his visit was of course a test drive in the Aventador LP 700-4, which left a very positive impression on him.

Reflecting on his visit to Sant’Agata, Gil said, “I have dreamt of stepping over the threshold into Sant’Agata ever since I first saw a picture of the Lamborghini Bertone Bravo in the mid 1970’s. What can I say – everything has lived up to that dream and the factory and the cars themselves are amazing. I can categorically say that Lamborghini simply oozes passion.”

A milestone for Automobili Lamborghini: 2,000 Aventadors produced

The Lamborghini Aventador LP 700-4 achieved an important milestone in its history, with the 2,000th vehicle produced. The Nero Nemesis car, chassis number 2,000, rolled off the assembly line destined for the United States.

Its owner, Thaddeus Arroyo, Chief Intelligence Officer for AT&T, is a highly ranked U.S. executive and a passionate Lamborghini customer, who already owns a Lamborghini Gallardo LP 550-2 Spyder.

Following a test drive of the Aventador LP 700-4 during a Lamborghini event in Palm Beach, he was immediately impressed by the extraordinary performance of the car to the point that he decided to purchase it.

The Sant’ Agata Bolognese plant’s productivity has noticeably increased for the Aventador LP 700-4 compared to the previous flagship model: the Murciélago took four years and half before the 2,000th example rolled off the assembly line. Launched in 2001, the Murciélago reached the 2,000-vehicle milestone in March 2006. The Aventador has reached this milestone in just over two years, with production currently of nearly five cars per day.

In 2013 the Aventador LP 700-4 Roadster, the most extraordinary open top super sports car, joined the successful coupé. Initial pre-order expectations for this model have been exceeded and the order bank for both versions covers more than one year.

June 2013 Supercar Show at Lamborghini Newport Beach

Cars and Coffee Irvine has long been established as being the "Go-To" place for gear heads with open schedules on their Saturdays mornings.  Our "Supercar Show" is quickly becoming a crowd favorite for the devoted enthusiasts since the usual Cars and Coffee Irvine show starts to empty out around 8:45-9AM.  While we initially wanted to have this event every-other-month, we now will be having our Supercar Show on the first Saturday of every month.  This is to avoid confusing supercar owners and enthusiasts on which month or Saturday the Supercar Show will be taking place.
If super cars is what you're looking for on the first Saturday of every month in Orange County, you don't want to miss our Supercar Show.  While Lamborghini Newport Beach hosts the event, the event is open to any other super cars regardless of their country of origin.
Porsche, Bentley, McLaren, Lotus, American, and even Japanese-based supercars are always welcome to our Supercar Show.  Or any car that typically isn't seen on your average day for that matter.

From Lexus LFA's to Lotus Esprit's & Lamborghini Aventador's to Audi R8's, there's always a wide selection of poster-worthy cars occupying our lot during our Supercar Show.  And if you don't quite see your favorite on the lot, you'll likely hear your favorite V8, V10, or V12 howling in the distance as it's making its way to our lot.
With doors wide open, coffee's on hand, and snacks only a few finger tips away, our showroom allows enthusiasts and owners to get up close and personal with cars they only see on the internet, on posters, or very rarely on the open road.
With wide participation of owners that have an assortment of supercars, it's always great to see your personal favorite in the flesh.  Who knows, maybe you'll see your favorite at our next Supercar Show taking place July 6th.
