Automobili Lamborghini appoints Fabio Babini and Adrian Zaugg as Squadra Corse test drivers, and announces the selected drivers to Young Drivers Program

Sant'Agata Bolognese, 29 May 2014.

Lamborghini Squadra Corse has announced Fabio Babini and Adrian Zaugg as test drivers to develop the new Lamborghini Huracán LP 610-4 Super Trofeo race car, to be adopted in the three Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo series (Europe, Asia, North America).Giorgio Sanna, chief test driver of Automobili Lamborghini’s R&D department and head of Squadra Corse, says this is an important part of developing the new race car: “The duo of Babini and Zaugg brings an important blend of experience and racing talent. Both have solid experience of the Super Trofeo series, racing, and understand our brand. They will be focused on not only important aspects such as the Huracán Super Trofeo’s ultimate performance, but also the right feel and set-up of the cars to suit our series. Moreover they both have experience in the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo.”

Babini, twice European Champion of the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo (2009 and 2011) and with consistent experience of GT racing from FIA GT up to American Le Mans Series and the 24hrs of Le Mans, is also an official Pirelli tester.

“I’m very proud and enthusiastic about this new challenge. The Lamborghini marque means an awful lot to me: I’m very passionate about it and it’s given me some incredible personal racing opportunities. This is a chance to truly be part of the family! I’m extremely motivated, the development of the new car will be exciting. As a Pirelli tester I’ve already contributed to development of race versions of Lamborghini cars, and this is a great opportunity at the next level.”

Adrian Zaugg, the 27 year-old Swiss-South African driver born in Singapore, already has a successful career in single seater racing under his belt (mainly A1 Grand Prix and GP2).

“To take on the role of an official Lamborghini Squadra Corse test driver role is a major personal achievement,” said Zaugg. “Some of my greatest race rewards came from dueling for top position in the 2012 series of the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo: this is like being on the podium again! This is a new challenge for me but also a good opportunity to further improve my racing skills.”

The Piero Taruffi of Vallelunga is the track chosen by Lamborghini Squadra Corse for its racing car development program. This circuit represents the ideal mix between a technical section that is good for maneuverability, and a fast part on which to tune aerodynamics.

In addition to Babini and Zaugg, Lamborghini’s Young Drivers Program gives the opportunity to Super Trofeo drivers aged under 26 to participate in the development phase of the new race car.

Those selected so far are: Andrea Amici (ITA), Giacomo Barri (ITA), Alberto Cerqui (ITA), Alberto Di Folco (ITA), Jeroem Mul (NDL), Andrew Palmer (USA), Edoardo Piscopo (ITA), Charlz Ro (SNG), Gerhard Tweraser (A), Giovanni Venturini (ITA) and Alberto Viberti (ITA).
Mirko Bortolotti as well will join the back for his proved expertise.

Lamborghini Huracán LP 610-4 photoshoot at Lamborghini Newport Beach.

Lamborghini Newport Beach took full advantage of having a Lamborghini Huracán LP 610-4 at the dealership over the past weekend.

The Huracán, finished in the new Grigio Nimbus over a tan interior, started as a center piece for the Service Clinic in which the Lamborghini Newport Beach Service Department presented the history of the brand. With all the models from the Diablo to the Huracán being displayed in the large service facility (21 bays),the guests were fascinated by the technological evolution of Lamborghini while maintaining a signature design so unique to the brand.

Another event took place In the afternoon, this time inside the showroom, for potential customers and depositors to see the Huracán up close and personal.

Following this, the in-house photographer spent some time with the new bull from Sant’Agata for a full “studio” photo shoot. Enjoy!

The Lamborghini Huracán LP 610-4 has had an army of journalists and media outlets raving!

In the past week, journalists, dealer principals, and media outlets worldwide have had Lamborghini's latest V10-powed bull at the control of their hands. In Spain, Automobili Lamborghini has setup a test driving event so that everyone can experience the new Italian bull in its proper form, on a rented out race track.

The private event allows for journalists and others alike to explore and discover the new Huracán LP 610-4 in its final form. With so much technology added since the Gallardo, from new suspension systems, new double-clutch gearbox, hybrid carbon fiber/aluminum chassis, entirely redesigned exterior, to the other-worldy interior, there is much to discover. It's no wonder Lamborghini's slogan "Instinctive Technology" was the catch phrase to summarize the Huracán LP 610-4. Below, we've compiled a list of media outlets that so far have published their review. Pictures, descriptions, and even video, all can be found below.

May 2014 Supercar Show another HUGE success!

See 80+ photos from our Supercar Show here.

If you didn't attend our May 2014 Supercar Show, you'll definitely wished you would after you see our photos of the event.  This weekend's weather was an ideal 75 degrees, a very California-like day for exotics and supercars of all types to stretch the lungs of their powerplants.

This month's event, guests witnessed not one but a Ying-Yang pair of Saleen S7's arrive at our parking lot, a pearl white example and a deep gloss black.  The Black S7 featured polished wheels while the Pearl White S7 wore matte-black wheels.  In conjunction with the ridiculous pair was the Azure Blue P1 making a surprise appearance.  Another surprise at this month's Supercar Show was a new exotic from Canada, a Magnum MK5 which weighs in at only 1,200lbs powered by a Hayabusa 4-cylinder motor.  Guests upon first witnessing the MK5 were perplexed as to what it exactly was as the hyper-responsive motorcycle engine gave an exotic tone as it made its way to its parking spot.

Other exotic attendees include: Dodge Viper, Audi R8, Ferrari 360 Spyder, Ferrari 458 Italia, Ferrari California, McLaren 12C Spider's, McLaren 12C High Sport, McLaren 650S Spider, Porsche 911 Turbo, Lamborghini Gallardo's, Lamborghini Murcielago's, Lamborghini Aventador's, Ford GT, and a Mercedes SLS AMG.

We'd like to take a moment and thank the supercar owners for bringing out their exotics to our supercar show and displaying them to our guests.  We'd also like to thank all of our guests for staying safe and keeping the streets clear throughout the event.  Until the next time…
